Holmes is where the heart is

In May last year we were busy getting lost on Dartmoor when we came across a film crew (and Mark Gatiss) lingering around Hound Tor. It turns out that not only were they shooting last night’s episode of Sherlock, but that if we’d waited around for a bit longer I could have seen Benedict Cumberbatch in REAL life! Ho hum.
Anyway, last night’s The Hounds of Baskerville was great and should hopefully have encouraged everyone who watched it to head West and sample the beautiful, if a bit eery, Dartmoor landscape. Hound Tor (said to be the inspiration for Conan Doyle’s original Hound of the Baskervilles) is a particularly exciting spot to head for. Stay at The Rock Inn, just a couple of miles away and explore.
If you were wondering where Holmes and Watson stayed in last night’s episode, ‘The Cross Keys’ isn’t actually anywhere near Dartmoor. It’s actually the pretty Bush Inn, near Cowbridge in South Wales...
